The Ongoing Humanitarian Crisis in Haiti
Haiti is currently facing what the United Nations describes as a "compound crisis." This isn't just one problem; it is a collision of security, political, and health emergencies that have brought the nation to a standstill.
Security & Gang Violence
Armed groups now control approximately 80% of the capital, Port-au-Prince. This control has effectively severed the capital from the rest of the country, making the transport of fuel, food, and medical supplies to regional hubs like Gonaïves extremely dangerous and expensive.
Healthcare Collapse
The resurgence of cholera, combined with the closure of many hospitals due to insecurity and lack of fuel, has created a secondary health crisis. International aid agencies struggle to maintain presence, leaving local NGOs like ORDEPROGRESIA as the primary line of defense for hundreds of thousands.
Food Security
Haiti is currently one of the few places in the world where famine-like conditions are being recorded. Over 4.9 million people do not have enough to eat, an increase of over 1 million in just two years.
Direct Response
In response to this crisis, ORDEPROGRESIA has ramped up our emergency relief efforts in Gonaïves, focusing on immediate food aid and mobile clinic deployments.
