The Classroom Lifeline: How Education Breaks Poverty
In Haiti, education is not just a right; it is the most effective exit strategy from multigenerational poverty.
With over 80% of primary schools in Haiti being private and tuition-based, the cost of education is the single largest barrier for vulnerable families. For an orphan or a child in a family living on less than $2 a day, school is often an impossible dream.
Education as Social Mobility
When a child is educated, they gain more than just literacy. They gain the tools to participate in the formal economy, understand their rights, and eventually, support their own families without external aid. Statistics show that each additional year of schooling can increase a child's future earning potential in Haiti by up to 15%.
ORDEPROGRESIA doesn't just pay school fees. We provide the "total package": uniforms, books, tutoring, and a safe environment in our Village Lumière center. We focus on:
- Primary Access: Ensuring every orphan in our care completes their basic primary cycles.
- Secondary Scholarships: Bridging the gap to high school for high-performing students.
- Vocational Training: Skills like tailoring, mechanics, and IT for those entering the workforce.
